the most attractive feature of google's appengine is free to start. but when your project becomes large, you may found a better platform to deploy your project.
i don't think google appengine can be used for large projects because there are so many dependencies on the app engine platform. even the data is stored in a way very hard to manipulate(upload, download, delete, modify).
