I apologize in advance for the rant-ish tone of the text below, but after
trying a few to times (to no avail), I'm a bit flustered.

Why is adding (or assigning) a domain name to an app so cumbersome? Why as
a potential user I have to jump through ten different hoops in order to
accomplish what I can accomplish in one simple step were I to host my app
elsewhere (including our own servers)? I understand that you can't
neely-willy assign individual IPv4 addresses to each app (for A-Record
style DNS), but it doesn't have to be this run-around workflow that is
currently in place between GAE + Google Apps. I tried every walk-through
out there to add a domain to one of my apps. Regardless of method, adding a
domain would, invariably, end in a mystical Error #1000. The hard part of
moving an app to GAE should be adapting/rewriting code and migrating from
large a SQL DB, not something as simple as pointing a domain name to my app.
