Yep... I filed this in June 2013... one would think it would be a fairly straightforward integration... from the outside it feels like Google needs another engineer dedicated to GAE Python. At the time there were other pieces of code that were also out of sync with the latest (release) builds (Google Cloud Storage client, for example).
