It would be interesting for us to know why Google have put the limitation i the EmailBodyextractor. If it's just a matter of an arbitrary limitation or if it's there for other reasons?
*We are using a contextual gadget which links the e-mail body to a TTS-engine (text-to-speech). The engine generates a flash player where the user can choose to play the email-body text in swedish speech. We think that this gadget could be an important pedagogical tool for, for example; students with special needs, small children, immigrants, blind students and student with dyslexic or math disability. We have implemented this gadget for all students in our schools. It’s about 90.000 students ranging from preschool to vocational education. (note:the film is in Swedish, choose part 2 to the left, to see the GUI, it’s a bit into the film).* *There is a limitation of 1000 characters in the API for extracting the email body from Google, and it makes the message body that can be read, pretty short. * *We would like the bodyextractor to allow more than 1000 character.
