that code does specify an id for the item --
but the assignment may result in a batch:id
for a g:id you might want to try something like:
entry.GBaseAttributes.AddTextAttribute("id", "x0");
to determine if this works for your code
in terms of batch:id g:id or returned atom:id
i would print the raw xml before, during, and
after each operation.
