The no-op choice might just be to tell the Cajita programmer to use  
$v.ro('x') explicitly when they want to
interact with the enclosing global variables. And if they don't want to do  
that, they can just write Cajita
functions that do not close over any free variables and instead just get  
stuff passed in as explicit arguments.
