Ryan,

I wrote a fairly long post about this this morning but it seems to have
been eaten by Google Groups. Ugh.

Anyway, we figured this one out and verified it. The user had never
logged into Google Calendar before, and therefore hadn't set up his
default calendar. Trying to access his default calendar via the API
resulted in the 500 "Redirection issue" error (as opposed to the
expected 404). We were able to reproduce this by creating a new Google
Account and attempting to access its default calendar via the API. Same
result.

So the good news is we know why it's happening. We got our user to log
into Google Calendar via the API and all is well with him now. The only
thing left is for the API to respond with a 404 if the user has never
set up a default calendar. (And for the Groups guys to quit eating my
posts. :)

Thanks,
Charlie
