Hi, I'm a big fan of Google Charts and I have an idea for a feature that would make it much more useful for certain applications.
Basically what I'd like is a URL that would return JSON info about the generated chart (it would take the same parameters that the chart url takes). By info, I mean position of items in the chart. For example, if I were given the positions of the drawn bars in a bar chart, I could create mouseover tooltips (like this: http://www.dustyd.net/projects/PhotoNotes/ ) to give more information about certain items in the chart. This could also be used to let me create mouseover or click events for useful items in a line chart. This would be more difficult for round figures (like pie graphs), but presumably one could use imagemaps to create clickable polygon regions. Creating an optional JSON feed wouldn't add any bloat to current users and would be extremely useful to people who want to connect their generated charts to other items on the page. I'd be happy to talk more about this implementation if Google has any interest.
