You should also note that Eclipse has its own SVN client as well, which is very well integrated. I'd recommend exploring the command line client too. Knowing how to use all three (Tortoise, Eclipse, CLI) can do wonders for your flexibility, I think, but Tortoise definitely seems like a good place to start for most people.
