Branches in Subversion are cheap copies. They don't take up any more space than the actual differences between the branch and the trunk it came from. See the yellow box "Cheap Copies" on this page: http://svnbook.red-bean.com/en/1.5/svn.branchmerge.using.html So you'd only need a quota increase if you're already very close to your quota limit and/or plan to make large changes in your branch. In other words the question of increasing the repository quota doesn't have much to do with making new branches.
