I'm wondering about the possibility of the Google Code license list being updated at some point in the future to either supplement or replace Artistic/GPL with the Artistic License 2.0. I found a few discussions on these boards which mention that 'the Perl community' was revising their license... those discussions were from 2006. As far as I am aware, the Perl community *has* revised their license, and came up with Artistic 2.0.
I don't have any numbers which represent the extent to which projects have switched from the old version to the new version; for my part I have simply read both versions and found that version 2.0 is much clearer and easier to understand. The Artistic License 2.0 is also, not coincidentally, the license I would like to use for my own project. So my question is really two-fold: First, is there a possibility of the Artistic License included in GCPH's list of allowed licenses being upgraded to 2.0? And second, if the Artist License 2.0 is not available, what license on the list would be most similar, other than Artistic 1.0/GPL (which I want to avoid partly because the wording on 1.0 is confusing, and partly because I don't want to get involved in an explicit dual-licensing)? --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Hosting at Google Code" group.
