You are not in the same situation. Your project was deleted because you were using it as a file sharing site for non open source content. Google Code is not a generic file hosting platform, and illegal sharing of files using our resources is a clear violation of the Terms of Service you accepted when you created the project.
I'm actually surprised you weren't banned from the entire Google Code platform as a result.
