Sorry, you're right - I looked a little closer, and that method will be hard to use outside a web browser. This is definitely necessary functionality in the api - I recommend filing a bug at http://code.google.com/p/support/issues/list. If nothing else, we might look at making that particular json endpoint usable programmatically.
