Dear Google Code team,

I am writing you as one of the co-founders of the Fosstrak open source project (www.fosstrak.org), which was started by researchers at MIT and ETH Zurich. Fosstrak is a RFID middleware (users include Boeing, Ford, Orange/FranceTelecom, etc.) and has been around under the name of "Fosstrak" since April 2008. The project was originally founded as "Accada" back in September 2006, but we later had to change its name because of a possible trademark infringement.

We recently wanted to transfer the project to Google Code, but noticed that someone else ([email protected]) registered a project under the name "Fosstrak" in February 2009. It seems that there has never been any activity since the project was registered.

Since the owner of the Google Code project "Fosstrak" has no use for the name, we were hoping that they might be willing to transfer it to us. For this reason, we tried to get in touch with [email protected] (see below), but have not received any feedback.

Do you have any suggestions on how to proceed in this situation?

Best regards,

Christof

Hi,

I am one of the co-founders of the Fosstrak open source project
(www.fosstrak.org). Fosstrak is a widely used RFID middleware (users
include Orange / FranceTelecom, Ford, Boeing, etc.) and has been around
under the name of "Fosstrak" for about four years.

In an effort to ease community collaboration, we are about to transfer
our project to Google Code. However, we noticed that you are the owner
of a Google Code project named "Fosstrak". It appears that the project
was registered about three years ago, but no activity has taken place since.

For this reason, we would like to kindly ask if you would be willing to
let us use the "Fosstrak" project name. We would consider a home on
Google Code a great contribution to our open source project. :)

We hope to hear from you soon!

Kind regards,

Christof
