I think it's one advantage of GCJ to allow us to use whatever language we want to use. Not so much contests allow this. So, solving in a non-traditional language is somehow very exciting. Plus it was a 24-hours qualification round anyway. You get all the time you need and you shouldn't worry about your submission time as long as it's correct.
