OK. Maybe I’m dense but there is something about these Google Code
pages that has been aggravating me. Figured I’d pass my opinion along.
Either someone can enlighten me, or I have a good point that someone
can fix.
The quick point is the lack of indication on Google Code pages if the
content is specific to iGoogle or a Desktop Gadget.
I’m very often doing a search for some particular thing I want to do,
and land on a page like:
http://code.google.com/apis/gadgets/docs/legacy/basic.html
There is no indication on this page that it is for iGoogle. Now follow
the link “Submit a Gadget” and you land on:
http://www.google.com/ig/submit
I did exactly that when I first wanted to submit my gadget and went
round and round half the night trying to figure out what the heck it
meant by “submit the link to your XML file”. It wasn’t until I noticed
the address had “ig” in it that I realized it was for iGoogle. Again,
that was not actually stated anywhere on the page. I've run into this
problem on several pages.
This is something so simple, yet it makes a huge difference.
