Hi,
the most direct way to view what's in a gadget (including source files) is
to change its extension to ZIP and extract the contents.

But i'm a bit confused by your last lines, might you be referring to iGoogle
gadgets? This is a Google Desktop group, so if you're referring to iGoogle
gadgets you should probably ask this in their
forum<http://groups.google.com/group/Google-Gadgets-API>
