This might be intentional since developers should move away from using
ActiveX objects since they are not available on the other platforms
(Mac and Linux). If there is a feature you think is useful to you and
others and might be a good fit for the API you should suggest it here:
http://code.google.com/p/google-desktop-sdk/issues/list
There are already several features available within the framework.*
tree in the API.

If you do use ActiveXObject you most likely need to test this
functionality in the sidebar or on the desktop.
