Hi,

On the first time you installed Google Desktop, it is busy indexing
all your application, files and more. If you wait a hour or more
(depending of you system and how much files you got) to let the Google
Desktop complete his index. Then you computer run on normale speed.
(so no big background process running that index all you application,
files,...)

2nd Clean you temp files.
C:\Windows\Temp\
C:\ Documents and Settings \[name user]\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows
\Temporary Internet Files\
C:\Documents and Settings\[name user]\Local Settings\Temp\
