There appear to be over 6,700 gagets hosted on googlepages:

I haven't received any responses from the Google Pages team, but with
a number that high; is there a way we could get some verification from
them about the transition to Google Sites?

I uploaded a gadget xml file to google sites and verified that it will
not load on iGoogle. Here is one of the xml files that I tried:
