I work at a university, and we are considering google apps for our students emails. It looks like we would be going the provisioning route, but one thing that concerns us is our students changing their passwords via gmail. We will be using our LDAP to trigger provisioning and account changes, so we want our users passwords to be the same in gmail as LDAP. The problem is, if they can change their email address via gmail, then they will have a different password than what is in LDAP. We considered the single sign on, but that prevents us from allowing students to access their email via Outlook, Thunderbird, etc. and that is not acceptable.
Is there any way to disable the ability to change your password in google apps? Thanks for any help. I did try several searches, but didn't find anything, so I hope I'm not rehashing an old subject.
