Hackish solution, for anyone else with the same problem:

in getCalendar.php, do

if($_GET['logout']) google.accounts.user.logout()

and in logout.php, put in a hidden iframe pointing to that url. Oddly,
xmlHttpRequest didn't do it, though I might have just done something
wrong there.
