My understanding is that the Linux version is just the Windows version bundled with wine. I never wanted to have two different instances of wine on my machine so I have always just run the windows version under wine. I would bet that I am not the only one who does this. I hope that the Google folks aren't assuming that just because people aren't downloading the Linux (windows version bundled with wine) version that people aren't running Picasa under Linux. Google should continue releasing the bundled version however cause changes in wine sometimes temporarily affect Picasa.
