the programs repository program is installed in /opt/Google - i think. the wine version is installed in /home/user/.wine .
It is likely that your wine shortcut is still pointing to the old program. Also, you may want to set WINEPREFIX in the install process and I recommend adding ies4linux to make sure you have all the dlls needed to post properly to the internet.
