Hey. I really love Picasa, and think we are really on track here. I just have a few general comments, but they are just my opinion, and only reflect my views, but are similar to the views of some of my peers.
1. I love that Google is getting on the linux train - i only use chrome browser, here at home and at work where we've just switched to linux on all machines. I am counting, waiting and wishing for a Chrome OS to test drive on a desktop. Good on you guys, keep it up. 2. I cannot use the facebook plugin properly. It starts the right away, but I can't see the picture I'm uploading, so I go to "older" version and once I login, it gives a url that goes nowhere. I have to search more for this in case I am doing something wrong, but this seems weird. If the facebook plugin worked properly, My wife would would probably become your greatest spokesperson because of how quickly and easily and wonderfully the rest of Picasa works. 3. I don't think wine is a real smart move because it seems unstable in Ubuntu, though it does work, mostly...but not entirely. I haven't had a lot of success with ubnutu liking wine but I am still getting the hang of it, but it seems like a band-aid solution, it seems unstable, doesn't always look right (like "sign in" and "album" buttons in top right of Picasa are highly distorted, but you can still tell what it is), and just seems backwards. I would think that there could be a great google revolution in linux that could be made made perfect in unix. I am NOT a programmer, so I really don't know what the implications of that are, but I honestly don't think wine is a REAL solution. 4. the lack of Camera recognition is understandable, that newer cameras would be more recognized, but too bad. We do a work around using gthumb photo import tool, and then move to Picasa to edit and sort and browse photos, so it works, but just one more step. All of this to say, that programs like gthumb, F-spot and others are a simple solution to of these problems, but holy crap could Picasa take over that market, in my eyes if a few of these things were looked at. I give this as a humble suggestion, asking you consider it.
