Your review gives impression Picasa on Linux isn't any good. I sure
disagree with that. I first used Picasa on Windows, loved it and
installed it on my Ubuntu 10.04 where it now runs great. It even uses
10.04 left-side window buttons as was adopted in 10.04 theme/windows.
So I don't see how it ignores desktop settings. Maybe Google is
careful about color settings because it is a photo app where color is
critical.

F-spot isn't nearly as good as Picasa in my opinion. Consider also
that Picasa includes Picasa-web with sync'ing, geo-tag, face
recognition and so much that f-spot doesn't do. For me I can't live
without the "I'm Feeling Lucky" button on Picasa :)

I tried the touted digiKam program too which has the least features of
all three. Picasa would be better if they did a native linux port, but
for now I am happy and the price is perfect!

Be sure to run Picasa 3.6 and don't use the standard 3.5 Google is
suggesting. I don't know why they recommend that and make that default
Picasa install.
