remove the picasa 3 beta/wine combination and download the for-windows picasa36-setup.exe and install your distro's latest, preferable 1.2x, version of wine, then install: wine ./picasa36-setup.exe see if you still have the memory problems. note: the "for linux" version of picasa are unmaintained, araict, and are just windows versions accompanying a tweaked wine. The 3.6 version contains much added function.
