Why not take advantage of the customizations
and do it the (b) way.

WINE sets up a basic "Windows directory structure",
so Picasa thinks it really is running on a Windows
system. The Picasa installer sets everything up.

Maybe backup the tree starting at: /opt/google/picasa/
