I am using whatever wine happens to be installed on my box when I need to use it. I have installed several windows versions of picasa on several different versions of wine, doesn't seem to make any difference. "calling it with WINE afterwards doesn't run it" ??? too much information here :^( and, "But I assure you it's not as easy as you make it out to be; maybe only on SuSE?" doesn't make any sense. Installing a program via the command-line is just that and linux distro should make *no* difference. "I guess I'll go through it again and echo the 'message' back to the list." I assume you are referring to the error message, but just guessing. How on earth would you expect someone to help you w/o having any idea of your problem[s]? If I told you that I put the key in my car but it didn't start, what would that mean to you? How would you diagnose the problem?
