on my opensuse system I would look for the package that provides
libesd.so.0 and install it.

and on my system that package would be:  libesd0-0.2.41-19.1.x86_64.rpm 
but I don't have redhat.

why doesn't yum find the package and automagically install it for you?

which version of picasa are you installing?  picasa38-setup.exe I hope.
