glad to hear you're happy with that config and able to do something
useful.
Mine has ~760 MB, 1G PM CPU but I need to keep Firefox and OpenOffice
open and often GIMP as well, plus a number of xterm and minor stuff.
A P3 with 256 MB would serve only as paperbrick wrt running FF or OOo
alone; actually I have to run FF in a ulimit(ed) terminal to prevent
it to
eat all VM and grind the system to halt. Of course it gets killed
often
oom, but at least it won't bring down other stuff. No, Opera is not a
solution, despite claims. All this stuff is well into the bloatware
zone.
And killing all other programs just to run an istance of picasa or
whatever
is surely not an option.
