Supprise.  There is no "weird linux version", just the windows versions. 
The so-called "for linux version(s)" were merely the windows version
packaged with a tweaked version of wine. 

And I firmly believe that picasa is no longer an interesting project for
google, ie: dead and (almost)gone.
