I have polygons for the outlines of all 50 U.S. states. My previously smooth 3D map pans and zooms are now extremely slow. I've heard that the performance of PNG overlays is very good. I have some illustrator images of mercator U.S. state outlines but when I try to overlay it as a PNG I can't get it to line up,my projection doesn't match Google Maps. I also have a Google Earth KML of state outlines but I don't know if it's possible to convert this to a graphic with the same map projection as Google Maps. Are there any utilities for converting images from one projection to another? Any way to convert a polygon overlay or KML polygon to an image?
