So I figured out what happened I think (sorta). I'm using Adobe Flash Builder 4 (eclipse plugin) to set up my flex project. If your using this you know it auto generates the required files for you, including FABridge.js and FABridge. As, and probably some others. What happened I believe, was Adobe pushed an update to Flash Builder that also changed one of these files. However, because I wasn't using the latest files, I was out of sync. Anyway, the important part is that I updated FABridge.js and FABridge.as and it fixed the issue. Because I was a little confused by the versions, I made sure to get the latest by downloading the Flex SDK at http://opensource.adobe.com/wiki/display/flexsdk/Download+Flex+4 . It's interesting that the effect was only seen in Google Chrome. Guess it's more sensitive or less tolerant somehow.
