Like highlander :) you know it's gotta be good then. Yah think the idea here was a singleton, if you need to do more than one (and want to just have more control over this) you can make a custom overlay (extend overlay base and add your overlay to the map after the map ready event is fired) then in your custom overlay you can use fromLatLngToViewport to get the local position to show whatever DisplayObject in the pane.
