The API calculates the pixel position of the poly nodes at a high zoom 
level. That way it only needs to perform the hard part of the 
calculation once, and can simply divide by a power of two to find the 
pixel positions of the nodes at other zoom levels.

If your custom maptype has a projection that's smaller than 
GMercatorProjection(18), then that fails and any attempt to draw 
polylines fails.
