This is something that Pamela may wish to take back to the lawyers...

A worthwhile addition to the TOU would be a list of uses which are
definitely allowed and a list of uses which are definitely forbidden.
Naturally new technology (like the iPhone) would mean that new uses
could be added to one or other of those lists; and changes in Google's
licences from their suppliers could move uses from one list to the
other. But it would make developers' lives easier.

FWIW, I think I disagree with Dawn. I don't think the crucial question
is whether the *app* is freely available to all; the TOU require the
API to be used to display a map on a website which is freely
available. If you have a fancy browser and your code allows that fancy
browser to do stuff which can't be done in IE say, while still using
the API [that bit is important], then fine. It doesn't mean that the
map breaks the Terms of Use. But I'm willing to be corrected...
