Google won't tell you any more than what's already published. Your original query asked about "You may use the Maps API geocoder solely to obtain and display points on map images provided through the Service". What it refers and/or apply to? This seems quite explicit to me. I take it to mean that you can use the API geocoder to geocode locations but the only thing you can do with that data is display it on a Google map via the API. How you choose to mark the location you have geocoded is up to you, provided you use the API to do it. But as John says, we're developers, not lawyers.
