My colleagues and I were looking at ways to make our pages faster when
using Google maps. Like many of you I'm sure, we switched to using
Google static maps, but we missed the interactivity we were able to
offer when using the standard maps API.

One of our researchers came up with a neat way of adding some limited
interactivity to Google static maps with little effect on the page
load time. The details of his method, including a code sample are
