Hi all, My colleagues and I were looking at ways to make our pages faster when using Google maps. Like many of you I'm sure, we switched to using Google static maps, but we missed the interactivity we were able to offer when using the standard maps API.
One of our researchers came up with a neat way of adding some limited interactivity to Google static maps with little effect on the page load time. The details of his method, including a code sample are available here: http://blog.revahealth.com/blog/2008/10/how-to-make-google-static-maps-interactive.html and here: http://blog.revahealth.com/blog/2008/10/how-to-make-google-static-maps-interactive-part-2.html An example of the end results can be seen here: http://www.revahealth.com/dentists/united-kingdom/greater-london/london-e-district/bethnal-green Hopefully some of you will find this method useful on your own sites.
