Thanks Marcelo, but that's not quite what I want (in fact, I think that's what you get as the default).
I can't show you the page just yet as I've not got it on a live server yet, but imagine you have a map that's a square and then widen that to a rectangle by sliding out the left edge. What was the centre of the square should now be offset to the right of the new centre, effectively revealing only what has been unveiled by the sliding panel. Does that make sense?
