Google Maps API only use TeleAtlas Data now - even the Navteq data tiles that were on the Google Domain (accessed via Google Pages) is gone do to contractual agreements.
You can see this in effect with Mike Williams Googlepages site - where he demonstrated the via googlepages route to access the Navteq tiles (tiles now removed) both are now TeleAtlas http://econym.googlepages.com/googlepages.htm The big question which is/was best? both are good and bad datasets, both were originally created for route planning (sat nav). But there are many pitfalls with using this kind of data for cartographic products. Notice that Microsoft have launched with TeleAtlas in Argentina?
