It sounds like Google have attempted to correct the problem mentioned in another thread http://groups.google.com/group/Google-Maps-API/browse_thread/thread/cb5d4d839b928cf0 and have inadvertently stopped *all* output in German. You could try setting the locale of the geocoder (see the documentation) or getting the API from google.de.
