The problem with the G_MAP_TYPE definition being removed so that site relying on the compatibility with V1 don't display their Google Maps any more is still active.
Unfortunately theire are quite a few sites where people don't have access to the code supporting the Google Maps display - e.g. when using a Mediawiki installation that hasn't been updated by the administrators. I kindly asked Google to fix this. The reaction so far was: none.
