Yes, look for threads here about that exporting - it does seem to trip
some people up.

You might want to make a decision about how to store your marker info
long-term.
If you've more than a few markers and your data changes, I don't think
hand-editing a KML file will be particularly pleasant.
You might want instead to use database, simpler spreadsheet, or even
simpler text file. But of course you can grow into that later, which
is the beauty of the API
