Ralph, I'm not sure I get it.
There is <script src="http://maps.google.com/maps? file=api&v=2&key=AB... script in header and create map script ... var map = new GMap2(document.getElementById("mapDiv"));.. right before the </body> already. The only thing within a table is mapDiv.
