Hi, In my opinion, Google maps should follow a more standard way to transliterate foreign names. It is a difficult choice for Arabic, but it has the Literary or prestigious form - Modern Standard Arabic used in Arabic media. Problem is, not always easy to find the proper transliteration and there are many.
I think it's a great idea to provide names in the native language, well done for China and Taiwan, Japan, Korea, Russia, etc. More needs to be done for Arab countries, Israel, etc. Only Lebanon exists in native script so far. It becomes very important when travelling and for linking to documents in native languages, for general education. I saw negative comments about native languages in Google maps, I totally disagree with them.
