Rather than asking such an open ended question, it might be advisable to give it a try and see how robust it is for your application.
I think you will find that the marker manager doesn't speed things up as much as it makes it possible to load the 2000 markers on the average computer. The better choice would be to find an alternative to markers, like a custom tile layer with marker images, an alternative to client side dependence, like server side clustering or a hybrid of the two.
