There is a difference between an **event** and an **event handler**,
takes takes action when the event fires.
If you don't attach a handler to the event then nothing happens.

The posting guidelines which I pointed you to explain why you need to
post a link to a page that demonstrates the problem.
The behaviour you're describing is not normal. As Larry pointed out,
it must be something you wrote to make it happen. Therefore you need
to demonstrate it so we can see what you're doing wrong and give you
some useful advice.
