On my N95 Google Maps for Mobile (once installed) is registered as the default program for .KML filetypes. So trying to open a .KML file - using File Manager for example - will open the KML file with Google Maps for Mobile.
Could your application generate a small KML file and request the OS opens that KML file? Martin.
