Thanks for your help, it's all fixed -- the problem appeared to be the empty
<div></div> tag... Weird.

However, it's woking from a window.onload=function(){ } call, but it's still
not working from <a href> link, even when following the advice of adding
"return false;" (which was sound advice by the way), so it's a mystery
still, but I only used the href link to force the test of its use, so all is
well.
